Yeah, I saw the Unlimited post, then forgot it when I saw the Rubi hood. As far as having the parts is concerned, I read that to say, he'd already "bought" them because they were under a header of "big ticket items" and it said "have them" not "already had them". It's a matter of semantics and I simply misread that part of the post.

btw... I'm the last person on this board to call BS on some one who says they've done anything like this, because I don't have the knowledge to do the work myself.

EDIT: this isn't our thread....this is provelogear's build thread so lets respect that...sorry

Man, that is one killer looking LJ, I have never really liked them that much, mostly because they are just ugly stock, but after seeing yours I have a whole new perspective!
So your running 35"s with a 4"?
I have a 4in lift with 35"s on my TJ, but to me, mine looks lower than yours.
Anyways I am really liking it so far, cant wait to see more!

Yes, it is a hybrid RE Superflex and Teraflex 4" lift. Teraflex LCA front and springs, RE rear upper, lowers and front uppers.

Did little work this weekend. We replaced the D44 with a 8.8 and changed the wheels and tires. Since we are now running 35s we had to get a rear bumper and tire carrier. I took the 4.88 F8.8 out of the 03 as I'm putting in a HP60.

I cheaped out and got one from 4WP as I didn't feel like making another one. I got the Smittybuilt. The bumper itself is good quality but the QC is not. First none of the bolts that were supplied to fasten to the cross member would screw any further then a few threads. Basically I had to use 1/2" impact and run the bolts thru before I could mount the bumper because they were so tight I could not do it from underneath.

The tire carrier hinge is friction pivot and is it tight but the grease nipple will get sheared off if you open the tailgate to far. I also had to grind the edge of the pivot clamp so it would not hit the tailgate hinge. I think they built it on a Jeep that had a body lift. None of these issues would arise with a BL.

Here are some pics:

I read thru your both threads and i have to ask where does the surplus rubicon parts keep coming from? Both the 03 and the 06 had rubicon doghouses and you had rubicon axles for a while in the one? Where are all these rubicons? i want one

Thanks for asking! My son has been driving it as he get his license in a couple of months. So I haven't been able to do anything else. About the only thing I'm going to do is add a better roll cage and Vanco brakes. I probably could not live with myself knowing that I could have possibly help prevent an injury or accident if I just added those items.

We may change the 4.88s to 4.56s. The 4.88s and the 6 speed tranny is pretty limited on the freeways. The 5 speed is great with 4.88s. Since the LJ is such a nice ride and is used in So Cal were freeways are abundant and this is more of a DD. I have the axles with the right gearing to swap just need the time. Now that I have another 2004 Project going on time is short.

With the help of NikVallens, we got a little bit of work done on the LJ. I have wanted to put the front D44 back in. Currently I have 4.88s and I like 4.56s better. So, along with the Rubi D44 4.56ís I also put in the Superior axles chromoly shafts and CTM u-joints. A Vanco 15Ē Big Brake kit was also installed.

Nik ripped the temporary D30 out in about an hour and we got the D44 ready for the install. Nik welded some Currie LCA skids on for me. He did an OK job for a rookie but it is easier to learn by doing it. He also drilled out the track bar mount to accept the adjustable front.

All I can say about the Vanco Brake kit is WOW! I now have a tactile feel of the brakes. Meaning I now can feel when the brakes are actually going to stop the wheels from turning. The brakes are unbelievable. I have never had Jeep brakes like these. I now have to modulate my foot pressure so I donít lock my tires up! We had a little fun shaving the tires down.

The install of the brakes is pretty straight forward. Nik did need to grind the unit bearings down a little. Since I have a few unit bearings we took a couple of them to the bench grinder and took off a small amount on the edges so the rotors would fit.
