Not to mention, if they ever grow up and have children of their own, maybe they'll realize that it isn't always about the here and now. Sometimes you have to think about the problems our children and our children's children will have to deal with when we're long gone.

How dare you bring up something like personal resposibility and just plain old "doing what's right"?

Do you understand Globial Warming? We need cleaner air. Common cheap skate you bought , drive & now you have to maintain the vehicle. If you didnt plan ahead too bad.

Don't take this the wrong way but let's all hope that your wishes some true ASAP, nothing like weeding out the Darwin award winners early.

Well my guess is you missed the thread that closed yesterday. For starters, I am not against Cats. Quite the opposite in fact. What does bother me is though, is others that are zelot in their opinions and views. This a technical forum, not a soapbox for Greenpeace. The OP asked a "tech question" in a "tech forum." IS IT SO HARD TO GIVE HIM A TECH ANSWER, instead of moral viewpoints. YES It is against the law, but that has nothing to do with the question that was asked. If you can't give him the answer to his question, move on. If you can answer it, then do so, THEN offer a little friendly environmental advise.

All those that want a moderator to kill this nonsence or banish it to EnviroBeat, raise their hand.
As incredibly helpful as this list has been, I still like it over all others because it doesn't (usually) contain name calling and hurtful posts, just kind and thoughtful help!

Answers were given, in both cases... put in a new cat.... if you posted something about your exhaust manifold leaking, would you want somebody to post something like "put a little bit of JB weld on it, and it'll act like everything's ok" or would you want a real fix, much like putting in a new cat.

In addition, I'm guessing you mean you wanted answers to the bad thing to do, not the REAL fix, but yesterday links were posted to 02 sensor fakie devices, and today, it was told that it shouldn't be hard to pull the bulb.

Although yesterday's culprit seemed to have more ground to stand on as he said the cat wasn't an easy fit with his lift kit.

EDIT: raise hand for mod to lock/close this one too...

The correct technical answer to turning off the CEL is to install a cat on the exhaust, how much more simple can it get?

Even that doesn't make sense. How does a catalytic converter (which is alongside the t-case) interfere with the rear suspension? No one would make a suspension kit that would require eliminating the catalytic converter.

I still think it's just an excuse to justify (to himself) that it's OK to eliminate the catalytic converter.

As a matter of fact the instructions for the RE tri-link clearly show a picture of the catalytic converter still in place, and they specifically address the issue of the exhaust system by saying:

Quote:
This kit requires modifications to the exhaust system. Generally, after the suspension is installed, plan on having a shop install a system starting at the rear of the catalytic converter and continuing on back, and also using a smaller muffler.
