Turbo City Intake

Hey everybody, I recently installed a Turbo City intake with a throttle spacer. Because of the intake i have a wierd Whoosh sound whenever I press the accelerator for about the first 1/4 of a stroke on the accelerator. My wrangler is a 4.0 L 2001 Sahara. If anyone knows if this is normal, or if anyone has this same problem please let me know, it is pretty annoying after a while.
Thanks a lot

the problem is most likely with the TBS. I would take off the spacer and see how it performs... I bought one, installed it, had the sound you described and saw no added reason to keep, so I returned it...

I have seen many write ups about these not being good additions, make your own judgements though.

I can't remember everywhere I saw them, but go to http://www.speedtweaks.net and click on "tips and tricks" and then on Throttle body spacers... They say it isn't good!

HTH

Any time I have put a TBS or an Intake tube on from any manufacturer I always hear a whistle, whoosh, or loud hum.

Independent of the type of car, the whoosh is most likely the tube. Every K&N tube I have used always had a whoosh sound. Any tube on a Honda for that matter always gave a whoosh sound too.

The TBS usually creates a whistle on most cars and not a whoosh. I have the TBS on my '01 TJ 4.0L and I have a whistle because of that. I have the whoosh due to the "rock it" intake tube.

You should really hear the whoosh when the accelerator is pressed down 100%. Similar to an open element air filter on a non Fuel Injected car (almost a moaning sound).

The sound(s) are not problems at all, just a "by product" of the performance upgrade. The whoosh sound is caused by the amount of air now coming in and the whistle is usally due to sharp edges or any "twisting" of the air "column" as it enters the TB.

I read somewhere that you can eliminate the whistle by taking off the throttle body spacer, rotating it and maybe turning it upside down. Try experimenting with it and see if this helps.

I get that sound with mine and I don't have a throttle body spacer...it is the sound of the wind rushing into the tube sort of like a light whistle
