Tuffy Security Box

Has anyone installed a tuffy secturity consol in their jeep? Or any other heavier duty locking center consol? i'm looking into one and just wondered how everyone liked it?

I've got the stereo console in mine, and I am happy with it. It's weather tight and hides a nice stereo well. Only drawback - cup holders are in the back seat.

I even squeezed a 10 CD changer in the cosole. I had to cut off the spot welds, pop the bottom panel off, screw the changer to the bottom, then reattach to the console before bolting the whole thing in. Work out well, and was less work than you might think.

I got the Tuffy security liner for my stock console. I think it's great. I still have my stock center console but now it is totally secure. The liner fits inside and actually bolts though the floor of the Jeep. The hinge and lock are replaced with typical Tuffy stuff and the stock lid bolts right to the inner Tuffy lid.

Tuffy's stuff is great, especially when you compare them to junk "security" products from others like Smittybilt's stuff imported from China. I have Tuffy's glove box, console liner, and under-the-rear-seat security drawer and they're superbly built that are strong enough to defeat all but the most accomplished thief. Go for any of their products, you won't be disappointed.

I have the security console that is not for a stereo set-up. I love it. Between that and my Ravelco set-up, I have no worries leaving my rig in a parking lot. Nor do I have to carry around a bunch of stuff every time I get out.

Wish I could help you out with a discount, but we leave the sales/discounts to our dealers. Check with some of the forum sponsors that are retailers and see what they can do. If you have any questions or comments, I am here to help out.

My son installed one in his 2000 (including a sub). It's great. I'm looking for an excuse to install one in mine (think I'll skip the sub).

Good to have you on here. By the way, there are lots of us pushing Tuffy to come out with a Tuffy padlock with a key that can be matched to our other Tuffy keys. There's lots of interest in that.

I would love to have a few padlocks with a Tuffy key.

Already posted this on another thread but here you go anyways.

Mounted my ipod here for security.

I did raise the deck on one side to make it easier to view from the drivers seat.

Took out the factory unit and replaced it with a pocket I built.

We installed their overhead security console, center stereo security console, and two other boxes in the back (write-ups are coming). They are EXCELLENT.

We did some checking on the padlocks and weren't able to come up with one from our lock manufacturer that could use the same keys. We are not giving up yet, but it doesn't look like it will be a real easy deal.

Thanks for that response Tuffy2, that's good to know. Just keep in mind that not all things that are worthwhile are easy.

Thanks for all the input guys! Is the security liner worth it? How much does it cost? Also what are the steps required in getting the new console in? I'm guessing you have to remove the plastic around the shifter? Pictures would be great!

Sorry for bringing this back from the dead, but count me in for 3 or 4 of them if you get it worked out!
