Tuffy Center Console

I did some searching on here and could not really find what I was looking for. I am looking at purchasing one of these consoles, and I wanted to know what people's experiences are with them. First of all, do people have the full one, the one with the stereo security in it (and does it have a water resistant design for the radio seeing as though it is vertical ), or just the box itself How is installation on them?, seems pretty basic but I wanted to make sure people were not running into issues drilling. What places have the best prices on them? I am looking to pick one up in the next few weeks seeing as though my hard top is about 50 miles away. Thanks in advance.

I have one in my YJ, I got a good deal on it off of another forum because a guy was modifying his transmission hump and could not use it anymore. I have the one without the stereo holder, it's got the two cup holders in front. I like it allot , I didn't have any issues replacing my stock plastic one with that one.

I have the one you're talking about...full console with stereo. Install was pretty easy, it's waterproof if you shut the cover to it. Pretty good deterrent of someone trying to take anything even if it's not locked but just shut I left my stock radio in it's place and put a new one in the console.

Only thing I was semi upset about was the lack of front cupholders

I found mine used locally at a great price. I have the one that houses the radio. I really like it. The sad part is that I lost my coffee cup holders up front. They are relocated to behind the console, but that works pretty well. I keep my CB in the console, and it is pretty water resistant. No rain has ever gotten in, but I doubt it would handle sumbersion.

I would really hate to lose my cup holders but I know down the road when I build it up a bit more I would like a place to put the CB...

Crutchfield.com carries the tuffy line, they have a great return policy, and free shipping over $129. I got my tuffy glovebox there.

Stupid question but...the same console fits both stick and auto?

Yes it should...the base of the shifter has the same rectangle for both...shift boot for stick and a gear indicator for auto. Crutchfield has awesome customer service...call them up.

Just put mine in last week. Not sure why people feel the need to remove the seats because I got mine in easily without it. If your seats move up or back you'll be fine. No need to take them out AT ALL. I love mine... no problems so far. I have the full console but it comes in two pieces. It's a breeze to install but you might need help to get the main bolts in...someone to hold the nut underneath while you bolt it down from above.

I have one and love it.

Mounted my ipod here for security.

I did raise the deck on one side to make it easier to view from the drivers seat.

Took out the factory unit and replaced it with a pocket I built.

Looks good. For those not wanting to build their own, Tuffy now offers a quick slip in tray just like this.

What did you do to get the stereo stuff long enough, did you just make your own harness or did you buy something?

Realize thought that if you have a 1" body lift or more the shifter in a manual tranny will hit the stereo cover if it is in the open position, had to cut my shifter to make it work. Or get an extension if you like.
