I didnt prime them at all, as primer only sticks to bare metal. I used a can of red Krylon. 2 coats later they were awesome , even when I throw them around in my recovery/tool bag. Give 'er a try. |

It'll just make a mess on the strap and the shackle will look worse half painted half not. Just my 2 cents. I did paint the pins as mine were orange and it kept coming off on my hands. However the paint is coming off that as well. __________________ 2004 Black Rubicon w/ 5 spd RE 3.5 SuperFlex & Front Trackbar / JKS 1.25" BL & MML / 35x12.5 MTRs on 15x8 AR-23s / Currie Anti-Rock / Jeeperman Bumpers / Rokmen Sliders / York OBA / Harbor Freight 8k Winch The Reptile File A discussion forum on geckos, lizards, snakes, and other reptiles. |

Registered User | Ok, so I stripped the flakey primer off with a chemical stripper, treated them with POR15's "metal ready", washed them down again with soap and water then painted with rustoleum. Works fine now. thanks everyone! __________________ Gun Metal Blue Jeep Club Member #99 |
