I agree that many of your mods seem out of order. I didn't see anything about increasing fuel range?

My Jeep has the 2.5l, 5-speed, 33 inch BFG ATs, a 9" rear, D44 front, 5.13s, ARBs front and rear, stock bumpers, roll cage, winch, 3.5" lift, SYE, hard top, rocker panel guards and corner guards (covering damage). I get 18-19 mpg around town and nearly 20 on the hwy.

This provides a nice solid platform to travel nearly any road and most trails. This isn't a hard core rock crawler, but a nice all-round driver that is hard to break and easy to fix.

I'd focus on reliability, security and range for an expedition vehicle. I think a lot of your mods are simply wastes of money (IMO). The radiator skids, gas tank skids, heavy bumpers, etc are simply not needed for "expedition".

Keep it simple.

Thank you everybody for all your input so far. the drivetrain is definitely something that I need to upgrade yet also the biggest chunk of change. I don't do wheeling crazy enough for me to justify the use of front and rear lockers. For now they will be run open in the front and rear I will be upgrading the gearing to 4.88 which I believe will work well with my 3spd auto w/o OD. Then some chromoly axle shafts from alloy usa, a crane diff cover for the front, and the superior dana 35 truss as seen here:http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx?partID=16216 . I think that should keep the dana 35 alive for awhile as I really do no rockcrawling a nice hill is about the most torque I put on those axles. Im a college kid who just lost his job at a jeep dealer a month back because chrysler's "financial issues." So right now Im trying to get a landscaping/oddjob type of business started on my own as I am very handy. So judging on that will judge how quick this jeep gets built lol.Keep any and all advice rolling in guys. I still need you guys to throw together a comprehensive list of everything I should keep in the jeep including survival gear, recovery, first aid, etc. As detailed as possible Thanks All!

Not to highjack, but what would you all define an "expedition" rig as, generally speaking. I have a few ideas of what I consider it to be but I'd like to hear some other takes.

I would agree with those posting above about holding off on the cosmetic stuff. I'd would want to make it mechanically bulletproof first.

Unless something has changed, I think these guys are out of business. There's a couple of threads around about some big problems with Offroad Toy Store/33 Eng.

If things have changed, somebody please post an update

Also a good winch should be thrown on the list. For 300 dollars for a cheap one its great insurance for that just in case buffalo stampede that overturns your rig...

i've been noticing something, everybody raving about Vanco brakes.... This must be an auto thing because my jeep with 4-wheel disc and 35's stops better than my buddies jeep on 31's and an auto transmission.... but then again i'm not afraid to drop down a couple gears if i have to.

that all depends on each others term of "expedition". i've done the alaska and back trip and i'm sure as hell glad i had all the protection on my jeep that i do. but i like overkill.
if money ain't really an issue you may wanna look into arb front and rear bumpers and rock sliders.
for gas tank skid. warn will do you good.
also engine and transmission skid is a good bet.
your fine with a D30 front ran mine locked with chromolys and 35's for two years and i beat the crap out of it and still haven't broke it.
now the rear axle even with 33's i wouldn't waste money polishing a turd.
