Trouble code P1686

P1686: No SKIM BUS Messages Received - - No CCD/J1850 messages received from the Smart Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM).

I am swainging in a different ruibcon wiring harness/ecu (due to manual trans swap). But it starts for 2 seconds then kills its self. is this just a wire i forgot to connect of it this some special key/ingintion that i have to get? I don't really know what it means. Any help would be great!

Did you have SKIS before (gray key) ?

Are you changing the ECU ?

No i had a black key before? and yes i had to change the ecu because mine was from an Auto trans.

The ECU is expecting to see a SKIM .. this is related to the SKIS gray key security system I have a feeling that once an ECU has seen a SKIM you can't deprogram it without a dealer, otherwise it defeats the security system.
Do you have access to the keys (you'll need 2), ignition lock and wiring, and the SKIM module from the donor vehicle ?

I will have to see if I get a hold of them. Other wise the deal would be able to reprogram the ecu?
