Transmission noise?

Just got a Wrangler 04 about 4 weeks ago. Took it out and heard no noise in any gear. I changed my wheels, tires (32"), put a new chip in and dynomatted the floor.

Now all the sudden I hear what seems to be transmission noise..something girgling..especially loud in first and second gear.

Whats up with this? Is this the same problem some people are claiming with marbles sounds?

Is it auto or manual?? It is a known issue / fact that a small grinding noise in nutral is normal for the 5spd.

This is a good post for Jerry.. He is the Yoda of Jeep here.

This is a 5 speed manual transmission. It does it while in gear (loudest in 1st and second). While its in Neutral, it does not make the noise.

Take it back to the dealership and make them fix it. It is only 4 weeks old and should not do this.

For what it's worth with my limited knowlege of tranny's - it sounds as if it not disengaging from the throwout completly.

Also you have to remember that the carpet is and insulator and buffers noise and heat as well.
