Anyone used tis is it good?? what is the best way to keep a trans from heating. Thanks, ![]()

that kit is nice. i just bought a kit from o'reilly's for $50. its just a little radiator that zip ties in front of the real radiator. with that one from quadratec, you can put it wherever you want. save your money, i would check your local auto parts store for a universal kit before i bought that one.

I use the Jeep to tow my bass boat, so the cooler is a definite plus there. Also, it keeps the trans a lot cooler when wheeling up in the mountains, or even just climbing around in the woods. I believe a cooler would also be a good idea if you wheeled in sand.
I got the Mopar deep trans pan as well. It adds another quart of fluid to the system, and prevents the trans pump pick-up from starving for fluid when wheeling at steep angles. It also has a drain plug to make fluid changes easier. Get a temperature gauge also, so you can stay abreast of conditions down in your slushbox.

The deep pan is a Mopar part, so it's available at any Chrysler / Jeep dealer. The part number is P4007886AB. It is available from various other parts sources, though. I got mine from Summit Racing...
Mopar Performance P4007886AB - Mopar Performance Extra Capacity Steel Transmission Oil Pans - Overview - SummitRacing.com There's no preference on the brand of cooler, really. I went with B&M because they specialize in automatic transmissions for hot-rods, and I have a bit of experience with their stuff. As mentioned earlier, I found it on Amazon for about $65 shipped... Clicky: http://www.amazon.com/70268-SuperCooler-Automatic-Transmission-Cooler/dp/B000CIGE9G Tru-Cool is another brand I've used, but I'm not sure of the specific applications anymore. Years ago, I put one on my F-350, and it's been great. I run this same temperature gauge on both the Jeep and the truck.... TCI 801000 TCI Transmission Temperature Gauges I have the sensor plumbed into the external cooling line coming out of the transmission so I can have a better sense of how hard the trans is working. Putting the gauge sensor in the pan or in the return line will tell you the temperature of the ATF after it has run through the coolers... not a very accurate way of keeping up with the trans' internal temps.

Just bought the B&M 70268 Tranny cooler from amazon for $46 with free shipping. Hopefully the install will go alright. Hey Stretch, the Mopar deep pan P4007886AB, is that a direct fit for the 2001 Wrangler Sport?

I've read many times that the 4 speed auto in the 03 - 06 TJ doesn't need the deep pan. I'm guessing the OEM pan on that transmission is fairly deep.

If you're running the 30RH (4 cylinder) or 32 RH (6 cylinder) 3-speed automatic, yep.
