Transfer case problems
Hello
I just got my first jeep last week from a dealership and already had a new radiator put in, now my 4wd is messed up. Its hard to explain but the lever is off from what it is supposed to be. you pull up for 4 high but i dont get 4h untill i pull it to the right and up further almost to where neutral is. That is where i get my 4h then i pull it all the way up and it barley touches 4L it stays in for 10feet if im lucky. I was wondering if this happened to anayone else and how they fix it so the dealer doesnt BS me and tell me its something not under warrenty.

sounds like it needs a simple adjustment. look under the jeep at where the tc shifter comes tru the floor, there is a rod from the shift lever that goes toward the front. it should have a bolt pointing down at about a 45 degree angle towards the driver side. loosen the bolt so the rod can be moved forward about 3/4 of an inch and then retighten then try it to see if it will shift into 4lo and stay there.

I just adjusted mine because I was having the same problem as the OP, I can get into 4hi just fine, but shifting into 4 lo grinds every time and then kicks back out, if I am slowly moving the indicator light comes on and immediately off, if i shift in when I am in N, then put it in gear it grinds and kicks back out. It is getting very frustrating now not having 4 lo, any more ideas on how to get 4 lo back.

![]() Please tell me this isn't a Jeep stealership! You should be able to shift into 4-hi while moving at any speed. To shift into 4-lo, slow down to a crawl (<5mph) and shift into 4-lo. Just remember, don't use 4wd on dry pavement. Good luck! |

Your owners manual has a pretty good run down on how to shift into 4WD. Suggest you take the manual with you and call them on the BS and tell them to fix it!
