Transfer Case Plug Removal

What size allen socket do I need to remove the drainplug on a 2005 tj rubicon? I have found posts online that say 10mm...but that looks way too small. I'm going to the hardware store tomorrow to pick up a kit.

Thanks

Doesn't my year have a different transfer case? I should have the NV241 Rock-Trac transfer case right?. i measured up a standard 10mm socket (not allen socket) and the 10mm was way small.

Your '05 Rubicon should have an NV241 same as my '06 Rubi. I just crawled under mine to verify that a 10mm Allen socket fits perfectly. The transfer cases are the same, maybe they changed the plugs between '05 and '06?

Those are for the transmission. They are on the right side of the NSG370 6 speed manual. See the first post in the following thread:

The transfer case plugs are on the rear end and are 11mm.

You are correct on the fill and drain plug allen socket sizes... the transfer case (241) fill and drain plugs take a 10mm allen socket.. I also confirmed this since I just finished checking my t/c fluid minutes ago.

Oops, I mistyped, should be 10mm for transfer case, 14 & 17mm for the transmission.
