Transfer Case Novak Shifter Intall..
Had a problem with my install today.
Couldn't get the length of the threaded rod with the two hem joints on either side to fit right. I called Novak and they said people have cut them. Anyone else had this problem. I gave up until I knew that it had been done before.

Did you change any of the mounting locations in the bracket from how it ships from the factory? I had a hell of a time getting my Novak shifter set up properly until I restored it back to the way it was put together by the factory. I didn't realize they kind of pre-set it for a TJ. I don't think I ended up cutting any of the threaded rod off but it's possible since I had help and there was a lot of frustration getting it put together so it shifted properly. It's great now.

Hey Tim, a big hearty welcome to JF! What, as the resident Novak expert do you have a permanent crawler set up so you can detect Novak shifter discussions no matter what Jeep forum they're in?

I originally had it in the set position it was sent in. t. dome, yours looks like a completely different assembly...
Mine looks like this... http://www.novak-adapt.com/images/pics/linkages/sk2x_v2_assembled_view.jpg

T-Dome has an earlier version that has a reversed shift pattern where 4Lo is forward and 2Hi is pulled all the way towards you. You and I have the same newer version of the shifter which has the same shift pattern the OE shifter does.

Hmm. I was trying to line it up with the hole in the tub, as if it was reverse shifting, I read that it was reverse shift pattern.
Any pictures jerry??

I don't have any pics like T-Dome has but I'll look tonight when I get home to see if I have one that might be useful. If you bought it recently, it's a non-reversed shift pattern. Some older ads might still say it has a reverse shift pattern but Novak switched it after too many complaints. All currrently shipping Novaks shift so all the way forward is 2Hi, all the way back is 4Lo.
