Transfer Case blow on 98 wrangler Sahara

Has anyone seen a transfer case blow without appearing to have damage to the front or rear drive shaft? Was driving on highway today had loud bang with red fluid pouring out. I have a manual so it was not transmission fluid when we looked underneath the transfer case was cracked in half. I didn't feel any locking of the wheels or anything before hand. Just trying to make sure when replaced it doesn't happen again.

Look closer at your front driveshaft. Centering ball binding up there is probably the number one cause for what you experienced. The TC broke instead of the driveshaft.
Thank you Dave Cole, Dynomax, Falken and all the Spec Class sponsors!!

Sorry to hear that happened. I sure hope that doesn't happen to me or else I'd have to replace that with the 4 speed ATLAS I've been wanting....
Built 97 TJ with WAY too much $ into it...
