Tool for taking off hardtop bolts and windshield hinge bolts

I am getting ready to take off my hardtop and also instal windshield hinges, it seems like both need the same tool, and I don't have it. Do any of you know where I can buy it and what it is called? Thanks alot.

Torx wrench? T-55 I think for the big one, maybe a t-30 on the top. You want a 3/8 drive socket torx for doors & windows more than likely. BTW Tiawan isn't your friend here.

Just go to your local auto store...Autozone Advanced auto whatever and ask them. I just bought a torx wrench fronm O'Rileys for around 7 bucks and every thing ran smooth.

Tiawan isn't your friend, means buy GOOD Torx bits. Cheap ones will just give you a headache, and usually do more damage than good.

A torx set will be a valuable tool to you if you plan on doing much with your jeep. Get a 3/8 drive ratchet if you dont already have one, and buy yourself a set of torx sockets. Dieseljeep just meant dont buy cheap tools, but a set of torx is an exception, not much to them... Enjoy your new convertable

OH.. Also the t-55 probably will have to be purchased seperately and would be used for the rear track bar and front bumper bolts.

Be careful what you ask for especially if you have someone pick it up for you. You could end up with a "torque" wrench. Happened with a friend of mine when his daughter ran an errand for him.

T-40 Torx is what you're looking for. Works on the hard top bolts, all the windshield, hood and door hinges. Very good size to have. And like posted above, T-55 is the size for your front bumper. There is a smaller one for the parking light lenses and the inside of the door, I don't recall the size. Just get a set of them, it's well worth it.

And why do I have a T-40 in my pocket? I have no idea.

Go to your nearest Sears hardware store and purchase a Craftsman Torx bit set. Go out to your Jeep while you're still at Sears and break the applicable bolts loose. This way you won't get home and break one of the bits and have to go all the way back to Sears. Trust me, I learned the hard way. After breaking two bits made in China that's what I did. The Craftsman held tight and I got out the bolts with no problems after that.
