I purchased this vehicle back in February 2008 from a friend of mine that owns a local junk yard, the vehicle was a "burn unit" that had obviously been totaled by the junk yard. Over the last year and a half I have removed/rebuilt almost every nut and bolt on the jeep with my own two hands. The only thing that I did not do myself was bend the front "hoop" for the front bumper (lack of tubing bender), paint work, welding, fabbing, etc. was all done by me. I actually built this on a budget as well, many of the parts were either craigslist finds (seats, winch, front axle), closeouts that were discounted (PSC corners, steering), jeep forum vender discounts (lift, shocks, SYE, knuckle's) or ebay finds (CB, mirror, harness's). Many thanks to all of the jeepforum members who provided inspiration throughout this build, along with motivation when my wife/kids were wondering if I was having an affair! (honestly, I swear I am down at the shop working on the jeep).

Anyway, on to my submission.

Photos: *According to Photobucket these were imported at the required size of 600x800 so I am hoping this is correct.

Brief story:
I purchased this Jeep 3 years ago. *I had always wanted a wrangler and after a Spring trip to Moab I caught the fever. *I made minor modifications after I bought the jeep spending time wheeling to determine what I would want to do. *I utilized Jeep Forum and began making a plan well over a year ago. *I began ordering and stockpiling parts early last summer in preparation for the winter build project.

In August of 2008 I pulled my Jeep into my garage where I worked on it for the following six months. *By January of 2009 it was again drivable. *Other than the axle truss welding, fender painting, re-gearing and exhaust system the work was done by myself - including mounting and balancing my tires. *I had very limited knowledge of this type of work prior to this project and learned a lot because of it. *I utilized Jeep Forum as well as whenever a question came up.

My goal for this Jeep was to create a well built "all around" jeep - one that could perform well in Moab and on the high way on the way to work. *I was also wanting more than just a "beater" I want it to turn heads and look good.

Now that I have been able to drive it for almost 6 months I could not be happier with this Jeep. *It performed better than expected in Moab this Spring and handles great on the freeway at 70 mph. *I cringe a little sometimes when I drive through brush or smack a rock but remind myself that its a Jeep doing what it was meant to... *

If interested, you can see my build at:*Idaho Jeep Build

Thanks for the opprotunity, here is my submission for the August poll.
