Tj v8

Well, yanked out the 4 banger today and have a 5.2 magnum sitting in it's place. Built my own motor mounts and am doing the wiring harness myself. If all goes well I'll be taking it for a drive Saturday eve.....can't wait.....zoooom zooooom.....

Well guys, I don't have a camera right now so no pics yet. But I will share some tips to help anyone contemplating this swap. A 5.2 Magnum with a 46re out of a 1998 Ram 4X4 is a perfect fit. It puts the transfer case in the stock position so driveshaft lengths stay stock. I'm using the nv231j from the TJ, an auto shifter from a 1997 Cherokee sport and the dodge ram exhaust manifolds.

I'm also going to post a detailed write up on the wiring harness. It's not a difficult thing to do and is probably the one thing that stops most people from trying this.

Off to the garage to continue.......

Like to see the swap, but I would like to see what you have on the wiring!

Quick update, used the front half of the 231d that came with the engine and the back half of the 231j. Bolt the two halfs together and done. Way easier than changing out the input gear. I think the whole thing took me 15 minutes and it was done.

The engine is in, mounts are done, trans mount is in, driveshafts back in, transfer case shifter linkage bolted right up. If all goes well I'll be taking it for a drive tomorrow eve.....
