Thank you guys for the help. I installed a 3500 lb receiver style hitch on the TJ today. One reason was that it is 2 inch and the same stuff that fits my pickup will fit it. I don't intend to tow anywhere near that amount. My aluminum boat, motor and trailer will not weigh much and should not put much of a load on the systems - thanks for the experienced advice and heads up.

well i towed my samurai with my tj and i plan on trying it again. this time a bit further and higher speed i will let u know how it does..first time it was fine.

Using this logic, can you explain why an XJ is rated for 5,000 lbs. but an LJ is only rated for 3,500 lbs?

My Warn isn't. Mine is open all the way through. I use the same drop hitch that I use on the F150 - fits fine.
