TJ of The Month contest... VOTE NOW!!

Thanks to everyone that entered the contest! we had a great turn out. those who did not get picked for this month please submit again next month - these choices were incredibly difficult! some rules through out the contest we decided were silly and will be changed for next month. many posts were submitted that did not follow the size rules. we will discuss if the size rules should be changed to allow larger pictures or if all the people that did not follow the rules should be disqualified. also, there were many issues with people not including their user name or even hosting their pictures all together.

thanks to all the judges for their help!

thanks,
Will

Brief story:
I purchased this Jeep 3 years ago. *I had always wanted a wrangler and after a Spring trip to Moab I caught the fever. *I made minor modifications after I bought the jeep spending time wheeling to determine what I would want to do. *I utilized Jeep Forum and began making a plan well over a year ago. *I began ordering and stockpiling parts early last summer in preparation for the winter build project.

In August of 2008 I pulled my Jeep into my garage where I worked on it for the following six months. *By January of 2009 it was again drivable. *Other than the axle truss welding, fender painting, re-gearing and exhaust system the work was done by myself - including mounting and balancing my tires. *I had very limited knowledge of this type of work prior to this project and learned a lot because of it. *I utilized Jeep Forum as well as stuoffroad.com whenever a question came up.

My goal for this Jeep was to create a well built "all around" jeep - one that could perform well in Moab and on the high way on the way to work. *I was also wanting more than just a "beater" I want it to turn heads and look good.

Now that I have been able to drive it for almost 6 months I could not be happier with this Jeep. *It performed better than expected in Moab this Spring and handles great on the freeway at 70 mph. *I cringe a little sometimes when I drive through brush or smack a rock but remind myself that its a Jeep doing what it was meant to... *

If interested, you can see my build at:*http://jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=600683

This was accomplished in 3 days. I started with a used 2005 Rubicon that had been molested by its previous owner. It was almost 4 years old w 12,000 miles on it. With a 3" body lift it would not go into 4lo and the stinger was sure to help it at the mall.I looked for a used Rubi for about a year when I found this one.*

I had a lifted full size and it ended up in a snow bank in a blizzard, the following day a friend called me and said we were going to get my truck. I told him he couldn't get to my house and he was already sitting in the driveway, in his bone stock 4cyl 97 TJ with chains on the front. off we went to get my truck. Right then I had to have one. I traded my ex-wife's lifted ford in on my little Heep.*

Mods Include:
All Rokmen Control Arms
JKS tracbars
OME ZJ/LJ springs
OME longtravel shocks
OME Steering Stabilizer
ACOS Spacers (front & rear)
Currie Steering
Anti-Rock's (front & rear)
JKS shock re-locators
Rokmen Skids (all of them)
Riddler Diff Covers (front & rear)
315 BFG KM 2's *on Soft 8's
Spider Trax spacers
Tom Woods Shaft
Daystar 1" Body lift
M.O.R.E. 1" motor mounts
Modified Tera-Flex T-Case linkage (shortened to work w the 241)
4.88's
new exhaust from the front of the oil pan back
Generic front bumper
Warn 9.5xp w Viking line
PSC rocker guards

I just built this the first week of July, have only wheeled it once and my camera went dead. But since it was re-born in July I figured why not.

Here is a before and 3 poser afters. If I didn't take the poser shots I could have got some wheeling pics. Need to stiffen the front anti rock a little to make the back work some more

I did all the work except for the gears

My TJ started out as a 2.5L pig bought off the Lemon Lot at Edwards AFB.* A Lt.Col who flew UCAV's overseas owned it before me.* Originally, it was a vehicle for my then 16 year old daughter.* It was rough, but mechanically sound - nothing out of the ordinary for a 97.
*
She proceeded to drive it like a Ferrari (okay, she TRIED to), and nearly rolled the damn thing over while on the street.* I knew NOTHING about Jeeps other than the 2000WJ we already had.* Found out there was no sway bar - and the mods began.* It progressed to a nice, stockish vehicle with rockers and 30" tires, but she soon realized living in the mountains of soCal was NO place for a 2.5L TJ.* She ended up with a Honda; I got a Jeep.
*
New top, and other fun stuff later, it has turned into the pictures you see linked below.
*
Specs to date are:
*
2.5L/AX-5
OME 2.5" life
JKS BL/MML
JKS adj track bars front/rear
33x12.5 TrXuS MT's running on Canyons (with wheel spacers from Spidertrax)
Yukon 35/ARB/4.88's in back Lockright D30 in front/4.88 (DUH)
Toys by Troy steering, rocker, and side slider armor
Skid Row Engine skid
Kilby Enterprises engine skid (w/o the dimple!)
Jeeperman bumpers
Warn 9.5ti
Customized switch bezel to handle:
*** ARB compressor, locker, fogs, driving, windshield, and rear fogs
Lights are OEM, IPF, and Hella (I like variety!)
LED tail lights
Rear fogs that activate via switch AND via reverse gear
Tuffy security console
Alpine headunit with XM, iPod interface
Kicker 6x9's in soundbar
MBQuart 5.25" in dash
Alpine amp for sub
Kicker amp for main speakers
Cobra 75WxSt radio with external speaker - routed through 2nd switch bezel (Firestik 4' antenna on back)
Hi lift jack (sorry, Jerry, don't get mad!!!! securely mounted with McMaster Carr clamps on rear of cage)
Various performance enhancing stickers under the hood
*
The TJ has experienced a rollover, but what this Jeep means is so much more than that.* This Jeep has helped me, taught me to do my own work on a vehicle.* I've done things on this Jeep I never thought I could do.* I've learned about suspensions, engine components, body work, etc through trial and error.* It has helped me maintain my other vehicles and those of my family.* The body may not be the prettiest.* It may not be the most built up, but for a daily driver/wheeler, it does admirably and it brings smiles to all of those who ride in it.
*
Future plans include:
REAL cage
belly up
SYE
Adjustable/stronger arms
New steering box
Lining the interior
New seats
*

*
A poser driveway shot.
*

*
One of the interior switch setup just for your reference.

*
Thanks,
Paul Erickson

MeloYelo

Hello,
*
My name is Shaun AKA MeloYelo and here is my TJ of the month entry.**
*
*

*

*

*
*
Specifications:
2002 Wrangler Sport 4.0L manual transmission
D44 rear axle with ARB, Yukon axle shafts, 4.56 gears & Rockcrusher diff cover
HP D30 front axle out of a '94 XJ with Rockcrusher diff cover
York OBA and 2.5 gallon air tank with regulator to power ARB
AGR Steering Box and Pump
Optima Red Top battery
TnT tube fenders and corners
Warn rock sliders and steering box skid
OR Fab Sport Cage with floor tie in kit
BesTop Oversize Tire carrier
Currie HD steering system
(5) Mickey Thompson 35" MTZ
Cobra 75 wx st*CB with firestick antenna
TerraFlex ST3 3" suspension lift with SYE
Smittybilt XRC8 8,000lb winch on Harbor Freight TJ winch plate
BesTop full soft doors for summer time
*
*
*
I purchased my Jeep back in 2003 and all it had was the suspension lift, SYE, tire carrier and 33" BFG All Terrain tires.
*
It came with the dual top option and one winter I was in an accident which demolished the hard top. Living in Colorado the hard top was not a necessity so with the money I was able to purchase the tube fenders, corners and rear ARB.
*
The rest has been a slow build. I had a 1977 Camaro that I sold to purchase more upgrades for the TJ. This was my very first car and although I was sad to see it go my real passion lies in 4 wheeling and not street racing.
*
In 2008 I was wheeling the Green Day trail out in Moab and ended up damaging the carrier bearing in the stock LP D30. Once I got home I hit the local junk yard and picked up a HP D30 out of a 1994 XJ. Re-geared and installed with the help from my 4WD club.
*
I added the winch prior to going out to Moab this past May and after flopping on Hells Gate I purchased the OR Fab sport cage for more security.
*
Thank you for your consideration.
Shaun Liomin

BDDISI

This is BDDISI, and this is my 1997 Jeep Wrangler. *It was purchased in 1998. *After having the jeep for awhile I needed new tires, I decided to get wheels also. *Since then it has been like an obsessive- compulsive disorder. *Modifications add on's, upgrades. *It ranks right up there with oxygen and water. *I work hard to keep my jeep looking good, but I also wheel it hard.

"LCOG" isn't cheap and it certainly isn't easy. If you think so, you are doing it wrong. If you aren't willing to put in the effort, don't label your build "LCOG". You are just a cheap ******bag.

Nice group of TJs guys. A few I have never seen before too. A Jeep I have admired for quite some time got my vote (2005X). Thanks to the judges for the effort - this should prove to be a fun contest each month.

go Idaho, I have to help out a fellow OX supporter. Having a killer Jeep just makes it that much easier of a decision.
