So I have a 2004 jeep rubicon and it came factory with the trac lok lockers. I was wondering if these were good lockers for deep snow. I am wondering what the difference is between these lockers and the arb front and rear air lockers? I am looking for what would be practical and what is the best investment.
The Rubicon's Trulok lockers operate the same way as ARB lockers do, both are air actuated and are engaged the same way. ARB air lockers have a better long term reputation but they would work the same way in snow.
Depends on the snow. On hard pack snow my stock 4runner (with electric traction control) does much better than my wrangler with ARBS locked or open. In deeper snow like you mention, the lockers seem to do better.
I know that driving in little snow "locked" is a bad idea but I will be driving in fields with roughly 1-3 feet of snow on the ground. I would like to be able to be in 4hi when driving in thick snow would the arb give me that option? currently my lockers only work in 4lo
Your Rubicon's lockers can be easily rewired so they work in 4Hi too. I don't have links with me on how to do that but you can use the Search function to find them. Or someone can post a link here for you.
Use the following info to modify the Rubicon locker switch to achieve your desired results. The line shown in the diagram represents a wire jumper that you would need to install between the indicated pin sockets of the switch.
well that makes my decision alot easier... thank you so much!
