You're talking behind the tire correct? All the silver portion is the fender itself. The black is the actual "flare" and yes, the flare is set back behind the fender behind the tire a bit. I'm not sure how their animated illustration compares for space there-I would presume it's on the actual fender (silver in my pic) and not the flare itself as the flare options are different. Granted they all mount the same, only difference between comp rail, 4" (shown) and 6" is width of rail and/or addition of flare.
you can see where I trimmed the Savvy rocker just behind the edge of the actual fender itself. I trimmed it to fit around the mounting point of the flare so the flare is bolted on over that. I cut I think around 4" off the Savvy rocker in order to fit there where it is shown-and I think they were designed to fit under the factory flare if I remember right?
Best of Luck,
Mike

Gotcha, fender vs. inner fender... I've only seen one set semi-close in person (on a YJ) and didn't ogle too much. MetalCloak is only a couple hours up the way from me, and maybe I'll drive up and talk to Matson in person before I make a purchase. There are a lot of things I like about them, the big one I can't get over yet is appearance, and I'm not sure if I continue to stare it will grow on me.
I do in fact believe they offer "some" additional clearance over stock and even possibly some over some other non-hyline fenders from competitors.
I've muddied up this thread enough this evening (I blame the Scotch!) so will drop it for now, as I'm not sure I'm adding any new value.

I have been looking into DIY Highline fenders and White Rhino have a nice price tag on them, but does any one have some extra pictures or review on them?

Awesome discussion above
Matsonian- something closer to a picture with a stock fender with a flare removed and a metalcloak on the exact same jeep would be pretty sweet. The pics above come close for sure.

Actually I can't say for sure-I've never seen a set with good hood and hinges. I had an "oops" moment being stupid in the garage when I installed them. Had the hood up against the windshield and for whatever reason, didn't want to start the Jeep so I just pushed it back out of the garage by hand. At the garage door just as it went out, the hood hit the top of the door and rather than knock it down, it jammed at an angle that severely bent my hinges, tweaked my hood and bent it evenly at the front. I couldn't save the hinges so I did have to buy new ones from the dealer-DO NOT bend your hinges! They were about $135 if I remember right for the pair!!! I didn't ever get the hood strait again after that and never replaced it. You can't see from the pics, but my hood is dented up and back a bit and even closing it is a bit tricky. I got it pretty close, but it will never be perfect.
Long story short, yes, I do have an equal gap on both sides there but I believe it's my hood that's the problem, not the fenders. You can see an equal crease at both sides of the hood-I hit it about as perfectly square as you possibly could. At the front where you can't see, it's almost pinched down a bit. Hope that makes sense. I hate those "duh" moments...
Best of Luck,
Mike

Made some edits and added some verbiage (extra clearance is now claimed amounts)
Big thanks to Metalcloak, MCE, and TnT for replying to requests for information.

Thanks, I was thinking about that the other day. So basically you can stuff 37's but you'll have some long bump stops.

Just throwing in my $0.02 since its somewhat relevant:
For everyone thinking they can offset the cost of tubes by selling their stock fenders... good luck with that. You'll be able to sell them but not for $300. I dont know what that number is thrown around so much.
I listed mine all over the place... CL for Atlanta is LOADED with wheelers. I'm pretty sure mine were the only set of stock fenders listed in about 2 months. I was only asking $200 and got 1 call about 2 months after they listed. Sold em for $100.
And that was after multiple attempts at selling over the course of 2 years with no bites.
