TJ Gearing.....

Ok so I just bought a stock 01 TJ 4.0L, I have 373 gears in it right now and i wanna run 35's on a 4" lift, i've been told that i'l' be fine with the gears i have now but would like anybody else's feedback too

Everyone will tell you it's all about you're tranny, but you can't go wrong IMHO with 4.88.

i have 33's with 4.10's out of a 4cly and it runs!

In an 01... if you have the automatic(32RH) then 4.56 would work, RPMs won't be stupid high on the highway.

If you have the manual(NV3550 I think... forget the last year of the AX15)... either way, go 4.88s.

yeah i have to 5speed and its gonna be a daily driver too so how it rides on the highway is gonna play into what i do also

i have 456 with 35s and auto 3psd. perfect imo. can do 70 on the high way.

4.88 with 35's, 6-cylinder, and the manual trans.

Yup. 4.88 will work well. I've got 5.13s turning my 35"s. It's great for the trail, not so good on the highway.

I am thinking of going with 5.13 when I get my axles swapped out to push either 35's or 37's. What is wrong with highway using 5.13's and how are they on the trail?

Awesome on the trail! 4 low with the 4:1 box in 1st gear is low enough for anything with 35"s. Most of the time I'm cruising in 2nd and 3rd gear on the trail, but 1st is nice for the obsticles you want to take slowly.

On the highway though you are turning 2800 RPM at 65 MPH. Not that I want to go much faster, my rims are dented and tires are chewed.
