Fair enough. I've never pulled the springs, mine may touch indeed, I can take your word for that with all the research you have been doing. Just no marks on my cover or bar after two trips through the Rubicon and some local stuff. I don't do whoops so it works for me and my needs. I just wanted to respond that it is an okay option for the $, at least on my DD/weekend 4x4.

What about shortening the control arms by 1/4 to 1/2". Does that provide any significant decrease in the amount of bump stop needed?

Hmmmm, i read back a few pages looking for the info about diff covers and came across what CB3 had to say about ditching the stock track bar. Now i am leaning towards re-drilling the axle mount and welding on some re enforcement to the bracket and calling it a day. What are your guys opinions on that with my 3.5" Rubicon express springs? I remember reading most people drill over 3/4" typically. Is that correct or is that as far as you can go on the factory axle mount?

Nope, it'll change your caster and pinion angle and effectively make it drive like crap...

IMO, the RE 3.5" lift springs are too high to relocat the stock track bar on the stock mount.... One Idea I had for keeping the stock TJ track bar may be getting made by UCF in the future, which replaces the stock track bar mount to use a cam bolt adjustment. I've messed with the idea in the past but haven't got a result I like yet. I actually lost interest in the axle bracket during my time out with the busted leg.

Well i relocated my axle mount today, moved it over .75. It is damn close to perfectly centered from what i can tell. Welded some reenforcement on and am done with it. I'm glad i came across this thread and all the good info in it, saved me some cash with a good end result.

How's that?

With both the uppers and lowers adjustable, the caster and pinion angle can be set to whatever you want. I already know that it's possible to get uppers/lowers shorter than stock. I'm just not positive if going a little shorter will really work.

hhmm....i wonder....

This + this = ???

Would it fit without a drop pitman arm, and would the near 3" wide assembly fit without interference.

OK,Ive got a RE 1600 trac bar.The frame side hole was drilled to 5/8 inch to install the trac bar. What can I do to convert to the stock trac bar with the smaller tappered frame side end?I have a 2.5 in lift now.Are there tapered widgets I can get to fill the gap?

My Rock Krawler front TB and mount works perfectly with my 3" lift -- now that I have made a few modifications!

The TB was shortened about 2" in the center diagonal section, to reduce both overall length and offset height. In addition, I had the mount moved from the bottom to the side of the RK bracket.

End result is the TB and pitman arm end are at the exact same elevation, and zero bump steer.

sleeve section of track bar (sorry crappy pic)

with the Ox covers you're prolly better off to keep the RE and relocate it in double shear..

You know what I want for Christmas? A double shear mount that bolts to the stock tapered hole...not sure might take a mounting bolt made out of unobtainium. Seen anything like this, or just a tapered grade 8 mounting bolt?

thats how the nth degree HD track bar mounts..

others like fabtech hit the differential...

I love it when I get to fix all these engineered suspension systems that don't work/fit properly...

this is what I meant by keeping the RE with relocation.

whats wrong with claytons trac bar drop bracket? it looks like a good product to me. i was thinking about buying it. im not hitting now but i have a RE front trac bar right now with 4" of suspension lift and i dont like how the bolt at the frame flexes in the stock bracket. (i think it egged out the hole after the bolt rattled loose) so anyway the clayton bracket doesnt look like it drops the trac bar much but it appears from the pics on their website that it moves it forward away from the diff 1/2" or so. and i like the idea of mounting it in double sheer to solve my egged out weak stock bracket. i would also be upgrading to currie hd trac bar. so whats wrong with the clayton bracket?
