Ya....Too bad that isn't my rig. Just the hood I'll be using. Mine is the bashed up one on the first post. One of these days I hope to get this slaped under there some what quick. I'm going to run with MORE engine mounts then the fun begins on the build

I'd consider going the AEV Highline route... There's one Jeep on the Rubicon Owners Club with 40" tires and it looks great.

Everyone expects the tubed, buggy looking Jeep to conquer everything... but the one with factory looking fenders? That's the one that surprises people

Do you see what kind of Jeep his is starting with? The AEV kit will cost more than what he probably paid for the Jeep.

I saw a Jeep with mangled fenders and bonnet.

You don't set out to build a Jeep on 42's if cost is of great concern.

Amen Brother. I'm building this rig for the trail. That is the reason I'm not slaping 1 tons under the "toxic tj". It's far to clean to roll or run the risk of bashing it up. Don't get me wrong. The front end will look noting like it does in the first post pics. It will be better than new. However I'm building this jeep to use so crate axles were not an option. There are some things that you just can't justify spending the extra money on if you plan on using it like what it will be built for. But the post above is very much correct. You don't build a jeep on 42's if you are focused on money or you will never get it done. Don't get me wrong. If I wanted to drop 50 grand on it that would be great but then I don't think I could have any fun with it for fear of scratching the skid plate

Doing everything yourself like I did and he is going to be doing helps with the cost considerably so it isn't as expensive as you might think. As I said before though, he is doing a motor swap also, which I did no tackle in my build.

I'm going Sunday to TX to pick the jeep up.
The owner sent me a few more pictures.
These will be fun to look back on when it's all done

(Pic below) Any Idea how the crash might have happened

Have a buddy who did it with his YJ for a pretty good price.. $25K

That was with us doing all the work. YJ, 350, T350, D300, D60/14B, Coilovers, H1 Rims and 42" TSLs. Rig wound up with 118" wheelbase and is pretty good on the steep climbs.
