Tire swing for a rear bumper who's company is no longer in business
So I picked up a front and rear set of bumpers that looked like hell and brought them back to life, as far as I can tell they are made by "bullet proof" but are no longer in business, I was wondering what my options might be for mounting a tire swing on the rear, it already has the pivot pins welded in, is there another brand I could use or should I count on having to have something custom made ?
If that bumper wasn't originally designed for a tire carrier, I doubt it would be anything but a difficult prone-to-fail job to make it strong enough to add one. If you like that bumper, I'd go for a carrier that doesn't attach to the bumper. There are two I'm aware of, from Bestop and from Off-Road Fabricators. Both attach to the tub with the Bestop being ok for smaller tires like your 32 or 33's, with the Off-Road Fabricator's being much stronger & suitable for 35-37" tires. I've run ORF's on two different TJs & wouldn't run anything else.
Here's what I'm working with, I assumed that pin was for a swing out, but for some reason there's one on both sides of the bumper. If I can't work an an easy alternative I'll probably just go with one the above options.
