which tire for the 2.5L? 32x10.5 or 31x11.5
i am thinking about my next tire upgrade. which tire would be the better choice to lose as little power as possible? 32x10.5 or 31x11.5

i have 31x10.50.15 and i couldnt notice any power loss or less gas mileage. i had 29's on before.

With the stock suspension I think 32's would be too much. I had 31's with my stock springs and it was less than ideal over all, driving on road was no problem though.

You could "fit" the 32, just depends on what you plan to do with your jeep.

Torque is a function of radius so the larger diameter tire will result in a greater loss of torque. Also the greater width of the 32" will result in increased static and kinetic friction causing a greater "loss in power" and less gas mileage.

Sailsurf's posts makes the most sense since the 32" tire you mentioned is going to be taller and wider.

Even though mine is a I-6, I did not notice any power loss when I upgraded my stock 30x9.5 tires to my 31x10.5 MT/Rs.

I would also think whatever running gears you have will make a difference. A friend of mine has 4:56 gears in his and seemed to not have any problems running 33x12.50s with his 2.5L for the longest, before doing an engine swap.

I would just stick to the 31's i put a 2.5 rc lift and 31 km2's and a can only run 60mph in 5th gear. 5th gear is almost pointless.

I have 32's on my 4 cyl., you won't like it. I am currently working on regearing to 4:88's and putting the 33's back on. Right now I can use 5th gear on a very flat road, or downhill, but uphill takes 4th gear.

With stock suspension stick with 31x10.5

If you have a 4 banger with 4.11's your not going to be happy with anything taller than a 31.

You will also want aftermarket wheels with better back spacing to run wider tires or you will rub.

I agree. I am running 31x10.5x15's on mine without any upgrade to suspension. It runs smooth but it is a ***** to go up hills lol
