Onto the Long Arms...

Cutting some square stock

The rear arms which still need to be cut down once I figure out the exact length

The front Arms

With the tabs TIG'd on for the Radius Arms

All thats left on the arms is to put the JJ's in which we coulden't do since we broke the tips we needed for the lathe to machine the jam nuts :banghead:

Looks good... Question...

What did your 60 come out of? Is that custom or Junk yard? Did you build your 9?

I built my 60 from a Rockcrusher housing my wife bought me as a present for Christmas & my birthday a few years back.

My 9" is completley home built. It utilizes a regular 9" housing and then I got a HP9" third member, used the thickest wall tubes I could get, and used Scout D44 outers w/ 31 spline Cromoly axle shafts...nice and light and strong.

I haven't broke anything in it over the last year and it has seen some really heavy abuse but if I ever do get on a nice axle carnage streak then I will convert it into a 609 and use the 60 outers on it.

Wow great project, I'd love to have the talent (and money) that a build like this would require. Looks great and I can't wait to see more.

what's the total stretch amount again? I'm thinking if I did one, I would keep it at around 6-7 inches to allow me to keep the tank under the jeep using the genright tank. That and I would probably just cut the rear clayton brackets off and move them back a little bit

Since you have a lathe, i am guessing you made your own custom threaded adapters for the square arms? Did you make them round or square to insert in the tube? The new arms definitely look BEEFY.

Actually it is my friends Lathe but we did make our own round adapters to thread the 1.25" rod into.

Yeah I think they have enough beef to not bend but I can't wait to test them out

Ok...finished up my calculations for the rear suspension

the Lower arms will be 42" long and the uppers will be 38" long.

This will produce the following...

Anti-Squat = 81.442%

RC Slope = -0.031in / in ("-" = roll understeer; "+" = roll oversteer)

RC Height = 27.212in

RC Angle = -1.782degrees ("-" = roll understeer; "+" = roll oversteer)

Instant Center X-Axis = 185.12in

Instant Center Y-Axis = 0in

Instant Center Z-Axis = 36.981in

Roll Over Angles

56.3 degrees Left
57.6 degrees Right
60.5 degrees Forward
66.5 degrees Rearward

So far everything looks good

Post up the spreadsheet picture of your double triangulated setup. Are you going to have any adjustability in the uppers?

I'll post it up this weekend after I take the final exact measurements on everything.

The uppers and lowers will have soome degree of adjustability but I am not going to put a 20" threaded rod in like Clayton does.

Here they are...

As you can see I changed the length a little (before final cut & welding the tube adapters on) once I got the correct position of the axle. Wheelbase will be 106"

I've used chromoly for the calulations though the schedule 80 is a bit stronger...just didn't feel likle putting in all the additional data I would have to get from the metals guide but the Yield Strength and Modulus of Elasticity are higher.

SO far so good
