Those with swing-away tire carrier

I would like to know what the pivot look like. Is it a special heavy-duty greasable pivot, or simply a rod welded on the bumper with a matching tube over it? I actually planning on building one.

again thx in advance

on mine there is a steel tube going through the bumper, and then a special poly bushing in the swing out, a stainless steel pin goes through the whole assembly.. no grease.

When I built mine a while ago, I used 1.75" solid round stock, drilled out a hole and used a 3/4" grade 8 bolt. Built a box around it so the bolt can pivot. No grease

Any pictures? I've been interested in this also.

Does anyone know where you can buy the latch to keep it closed?

Mine uses a 3"pipe nipple with a 4"long pipe to turn on. Then the tire rack is welded on to the nipple.I know this sounds like it looks like crap but my friend that built it done a factory looking job.he turned down $350 to build another one.
