Those Nets: Raingler et al.
In the summer I like letting my GSD (German Shepherd Dog) ride in the back with the rear seat removed. However when going slow she has a tendency to want to hop out and I usually keep her on a short leash to prevent this. I have never felt that was all that safe so she does not ride around with me as often as either of us would like.
I have seen some sharp looking netting, I think Bddsi's is an example with the red and black that caught my eye and here are my questions if anyone wouldn't mind: - Can I put my soft top up with netting in place? - How loud? Do they stay tight or rattle around? How about highway speed? - If my GSD did want out, I know she could tear through it, but will it keep her honest? She is a pretty good girl, just high prey instinct at times. - Is Raingler still considered top quality or should I look elsewhere? - Any cons I should be aware of? PS - my search mojo may be off this morning, but I did read around some ![]()

I'm a big meanie head
|
Stu Olsen just posted up a thread this week about another company making them. I like them much more than Raingler nets, and put them on my list. Off the top of my head I can't remember the website, but I know they were called safari nets. Check out his site for a write up.

x2, and yes you can keep them on with a soft/hardtop, they make no noise as long as you strap them correctly, even when i removed my roll bar padding the raingler nets are still tight and dont move around. they get all muddy, sit on in the sun(run no top almost 7 months of the year) and dont fade, i have powerwashed them and they look like they did when i got them 2 years ago.
just for refereance these keep my wild animal from escaping, warning by the pic, she drools, poops wherever, and can bite ![]()

& My Kudos on the beautiful child! I have a son off in college who is not around to play anymore, a daughter in High School with other interests, and my youngest son who is just turning 4 (and my last! lol). Him and I took the Jeep yesterday Ice fishing and had a great time, just planning on this summer where I am gonna keep my GSD in the back, my youngest in the passenger and my custom little trailer with both firewood and a tent in it and we plan to be some camping fools! - I am unsure who is looking forward to it more (ok, I am!)

I bought Raingler nets a month ago, but at an average of 15 degrees I have yet to put them up, and actually 2005x's jeep was the reason I nabbed them. I liked the way his jeep looked with the nets

2 - They make no noise that I can hear, sitting still or doing 75 MPH. ![]() 3- I can't comment on what your dog may or may not do....you have a much better idea about that than anyone else. Obviously, at the very least, it should slow your dog down a lot. 4 - I've used both Raingler and Safari Straps on my TJ (not sure how many other folks can make that statement). Both companies make a good product from what I have experienced. Someone commented in my thread that the Safari Straps were notably less expensive. 5 - I can't think of any cons. Some folks get quite cranked about using nets for pet retention.....I'm not going into that as everyone has their opinions. Good luck with your pooch! |

Also note that Raingler nets have a lifetime warrenty and are made by Jeepers. To me that is a BIG selling point

I know Safari Straps are Jeepers (they have nicely done JK).
I asked them about their warranty (found out their web site isn't totally done but they are working on that) and it will be updated as soon as their web designers roll out the changes. They replied: Safari Straps offers a 5 year warranty from date of purchase from manufacturer’s defects, with proof of purchase. No warranty is given against hardware or powder coating. No warranty is given on normal wear and tear, or negligence. This includes damages created by trees, bushes, rocks, animals, etc... All claims must be made in writing, by mail, fax or email directly to Safari Straps. A copy of the original receipt MUST be provided by the buyer. Safari Nets will be repaired or replaced at our discretion. Raingler's does a limited lifetime warranty to the original purchaser. Dies, coatings, finishes, etc. are not covered. I don't think you can go wrong with either product. What ever works the best for you is a good choice, IMO. |

I have the raingler nets and they are great. On thing I noticed is it looks like the safari straps have an extra strap on the side nets, that will make them even tighter. I don't think you can go wrong with either company.
One thing I am not sure about is if the safari straps top net goes from the gate to the header. |

I knew Eddie from Raingler from the time he started his business...he is a stand up guy and he sells a great product. The raingler nets are top quality and will last as long as the jeep! Eddie has trail tested them on all his rigs.
