Thinking of buying this & Selling my YJ, need Opinions from you TJ guys!!!

So, I'm thinking of buying this rig and I'm curious what you guys think of it. He wants $7k.

Click here for lots of pictures

I have put the carpet back in. I took it out for one of ny off-roading trips.

I did not put the carpet that goes under the rear arm rest back in but I do have it.

I also have a Ramsey winch mount plate for the front of the Jeep.

If you want you can have the Ramsey Platnum 9000 winch that mas mounted to the Jeep before it broke. I called Ramsey and they said it would be around $200 to fix the winch.

Vehicle Condition

There is a little damage on the doors, see pictures. My sister drove the Jeep for a week and took the doors off, I guess she dropped them or something.

This Jeep has been off-road a few times.

The rear axle shafts where replace with off-road ones (Superior Axle) about 65k, this is just before I got the Jeep.

The A/C fan has started to make a little noise when it is on full. It is ok on the other settings.

That looks like a sweet ride. I dunno about the 3 inch body lift on top of 4.5 inch suspension lift, but thats sounds like a decent deal.

Yeah, I'm not thrilled about 3" of body either. But how hard/expensive would that be to "undo"???

I don't think you could undo it and keep the 36" rubber, at least not without going higher in suspension. Not sure though... But as for just taking off the body spacers, as long as there's no other reason it's lifted other than wheel clearence, it's not hard.

How much body lift could I lose if I went down to 35's?

If it's mostly road-only, then you could probably go back to the stock bushings. But it might still rub slightly. Under articulation, it might hit... In my brain, I just have 4" lift = 33" tires w/ full clearence in there for some reason. But I know some people run 35" on 4-4.5" of lift too, probably with very mild rubbing I'd guess.

But you could always drop it down to a 1" body lift. It won't look so gaudy but still offer you some extra height for those tires... Maybe even the 36" still if not too articulated... ??

I would pick it up if i were you, it's not that big of a deal to take it down a notch and it looks like there are plenty of extras. Let me know if you decide not to buy it, maybe i will

I would buy it, then replace the 3in BL w/ a 1in BL. That is plenty of room for 35's, mabey even the 36's you would just have to see on that one.

later

Yeah, except for the 3inch bl it sounds like a great ride. Don't know why he only wants 7k for it. Hell the rubber that he is running on there cost at least 1100. But I would definitely pick it up as long as it's mechanics are solid. You could easily reconfigure the suspension to fit the 36's the right way.

It sounds like a steal to me. A quick total in my head and he almost has 7K wrapped up in parts alone for the thing.

I would agree on dropping down the BL to 1" and you sould have no issues with running the 35s. Most of the other stuff that would knock some of the price off is pretty much cosmetic (like the doors, radio mounting, back seat) but can be easily fixed if the need ever arises.

But for 7K? I would take it. By the way.....what year is it? you might have said it, and I just can't read.

It is the 1997. I am going to have a carfax run on it tomorrow and will also be checking into shipping options. It's in Texas, I live in Washington State.

How about, you ship your butt down here in a plane and drive it home? HAHA! (sorry... couldn't resist...) You could have one of us local boys (or girls) take a closer look-see. And that price isn't too bad for Texas rigs, they're everywhere down here. Alot cheaper than some other places... And that one was seemingly well used so the price isn't bad. Might even be a touch high really (for this area...) But it might not be worth bickering over... (as in it's not THAT much higher than might be expected..)

Um, with the size tires it has currently (36") and what you're talking about maybe going down to (35"), make sure it has a Dana 44 in it too. I didn't see that listed which makes me a little nervous, especially with the fact that it also has a Detroit Locker in it. Though for the price, you could upgrade it to a rear Dana 44 if it doesn't have one already and still not have spent too much for it. And yeah, I would definitely make removing that 3" body lift a priority.

In the description it said it's got a d35 with superior axles and a detroit with 4.56's and 36"ers.. which as a lot of us know is a recipe for disaster even with the upgraded axles.. the only other thing that I don't like is the new engine and no mention of the tranny.. a 3" body lift is kinda too much, but that's easily/cheaply fixed..
