Think im gonna buy a Tj... Need assistance..

Well I think im going to take the plung,, this will be my first jeep as I am looking for something to take the wife and kids 4-wheeling and for the occasional ice-cream. I will not be rock crawling with this jeep. I found a guy selling a 97 tj 6cyl. 5 speed 150k miles, 3 small spots of rust on body, frame excellent shape. Comes with smittybuilt front and rear bumpers,no lift,2 extra oem fenders, hard top,bikini top,jks quick release sway bar links, along with new brakes, rotors,battery,starter,etc. not installed 2" or 2 1/2" spacer lift kit for the springs.. The seal around the rear end at the driveshaft looks to be seaping a little. The gentleman is asking $5200 Should I jump on it???? Any info would be greatly appriciated

Personally i think thats too much. I'd offer 4k and not go over 4,400. Even with the extra parts. And if you gonna be mudding it your gonna want more than a 2 inch lift. JMO

But i you plan on spending some extra money for lift and tires etc, id go for it.

It looks to be a decent price for the jeep. I would crawl under it to get a good look up by the rear control arm brackets on the frame. They like to rust our there. If it looks good and drives out well than go for it.

Thanks rda, I did look the whole frame over for a few minutes. it looks very good. no rust in any of the shackle spots. Looks like just some of the factory black paint has started to chip off.. theres two small cracks in the tailgate from a bigger tire on there, but owner replaced it with a smittybuilt tire carrier bumper.

Buy the thing! 5k is fair for a nice condition TJ with a solid frame.

Then go find some seats, or do what I did and buy $5 worth of foam to shove under a seat cover.

Looks good, you can get stock seats on craigslist for cheap. If your rust inspection and all else looks good, I would!

Don't know if I'd go that far. CL and EBay sellers thing their good shape 97-03 driver's seats are made of gold. If you want the Mack daddy go buy same year seats out of a Grand Cherokee. Heated, leather and PLUSH. 150.00 for both sides and they bolt onto your stock rails. Just a little trimming of the outboard plastic piece so it fits by the seat belt retractor in the rear most position.
