there MUST be an easier way

Figured i'd paint my fender flares rather than buy a whole new set. Picked up the Krylon Fusion as recommended by everyone!

But i have to say - i thought removing the fender flares would be easier! I started to do it figuring it would take half an hour - no way - getting under those flares is not an easy job! am i missing something? it has to be easier than that.

HELP!

I removed the plastic fender liner several years ago. It made getting at everything under there a whole lot easier. It may not be the choice for everyone.

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

A wratcheting wrench (5/8" IIRC) is your friend in this situation. Starting at one end, pull on the flare while you loosen the screw.

Stu is right, the rear is much easier if you remove the wheel well liner. I removed mine and sprayed them with undercoating. I was kind of worried about it at first, but now I'm glad I did it.

You'll want one of these to remove the liner ($5 at autozone):

Mine has a couple of coats of undercoating. The one thing I noticed more than anything else was the increase in highway noise. Those plastic liners were good for helping deaden the tire noise. I wonder how many coats of undercoating I need to apply to make it as quiet as it was?
