Temp Control Cable Stuck

Trying to work out some bugs in my new used TJ

So, my AC was blowing boiling air - I tested the system - its fully charged.
(Please no flames about the AC - its hot in Fla in a shirt and tie)

So I read on here it could be the blend air door. Sure enough I detached the cable and the push the door and ice cold air comes out.

Now, I re-attached the cable and it goes back to hot because the cable wont go abck into positon. It feels stuck. Any suggestions besides just leaving the door on the AC setting?

don't know if this will help, but you should check and make sure the cable doesn't have any real sharp bends as it makes it way back to the control panel.
Maybe someone install an aftermarket stereo, or something, that is interfering with the cable.

it moves to a certin point - then simply wont go further. But if I pull on it, it goes just the inch further to close air blend door to heat. hmmmm

may have a kink in it somewhere.
you can also try some graphite lubricant in it.

Pull the climate control panel. Look where the cable attaches to the slide. Is the cable bent? Is it splayed? Any time I've had that problem, the cable gets kinked or splayed and wont slide into and out of the sleeve. A dry lubricant may help.

Also, check under the glove box. The cable routes that way and is exposed for a time before it goes back into a sleeve.
