Teach me about TJ models...
So I bought a used jeep... its an 03 X ... or so the carfax said...
Now ... it doenst have the X on the side ( nor does it have Sport or anything else... just the JEEP) and the fender flares arent the black plastic... they are color matched to the jeep itself... So what are some qualifiying characteristics to look for to determine if I actually have an X or not?

Color matched flares is usually an indicator that it is a Sahara model. The Sport stickers are easily removed.

driver side door should have a build sticker on it saying model, hopefully its still there a lot of people pull them off b/c they don't like the way it looks with the doors off (like me) or go to a dealer and have them get you a master build sheet from your VIN that will have the model and all option listed

The X model is one step up from the SE 4 cylinder.

Is it a Rocky Mtn Edition? Mines an 05 and I'm not sure what they changed from 03 to 05 but it's got painted flares, no matter the Jeeps color the center section of the dash is painted silver, the seats are 2 tone with Jeep embroidered on them, I think that's it. I'm not 100% on this but pretty sure it should have a rear dana 44 as part of that package also, mine does.

Yeah... thats my new baby!
It has the tow hooks, fog lights, chrome rims and painted fender flairs... makes me think its not a regular X but Ill have to check the door later... |
