Tailgate interior lock
about a year ago, there was a post about how to put a interior locking mechanism on the interior of the tailgate so you could lock it without having to keep using the key. Anyone know how to do it? I did a search, but couldnt find it...Thanks...

Under the black cover on the locking mechanism, look where the linkage hooks up. Turn the key both lock and unlock and you'll see what pieces are moving. IIRC the linkage goes through a U shaped piece and thats where you tie a string (paracord works good as its real tough). Drill a hole in the black cover off to the side, remove any burrs or sharp edges (as is will eventually cut through) and run your string through. When you want to lock up, pull the string.
I know this is about clear as mud, if you need more help or some pics. let me know. |
