SYE install Problems Please help

Well after having a Tcase drop kit in for 5 years I finally got and SYE. The install went ok But now I dont have 2WD I think I just need to adjust the linkage, Does any body have a write up on this? 4WD is where 2WD should be and nuetral in 4hi and 4lo is where nuetral should be. I also have an after market linkage bracket. Please help I need to get this fixed before I go to work on friday. Also how many degrees off can the pinion angle be, I have about 3

there is an adjustment rod on linkage. i think its like a 13mm bolt you loosen and slide the rod until it all works.. pretty easy to do.

Which linkage adapter do you have? Just the bracket or the full linkage replacement? This is how you adjust if you have just the bracket with original linkage. If you have replacement linkage adjustment maybe different. For example, Tera replacement linkage as a bolt with threads on both ends, you unscrew the jam nuts on each end, turn bolt to adjust length and then retighten jam nuts. Don't try to eyeball a specific length. Instead just work with it to find the sweet spot. Every jeep is different remember. If you do have the original linkage loosen the adjustment bolt, then manually go down to the TC and shift to match wherever your handle is and then retighten adjustment bolt.

I wouldn't think the sye should effect the throw to much. It didn't on mine. Push the handle all the way foward like your trying to get 2wd then go under the jeep and try to engage it the rest of the way with your hand. If it goes in then it must be out of adjustment. If it doesn't then you might have got the fork in the wrong place.

I think you have the TC shifter input rotated 180 degrees.

I found this link earlier Jeep TJ Transfer Case Shifter Knocking TSB.

Also, after a bunch of research myself I believe the pinion should be at least 1 degree lower than the slope of the shaft. Mine is about 1.5 degrees. I think some people have set it even lower due to added weight of their jeep and occupants.

Your TC shifter linkage mates to the shifter shaft on the TC. The Linkage has a slot, the TC shaft has a flattened end for the linkage to mate to. If the TC shift shaft is rotated 180 degrees, the linkage will fit but the TC will actually be engaged in a position othert than that which the shifter lever indicates.

Could this happen even though I never took the Tcase out to do the SYE

No, unless you disconnected your linkage from the TC. If you did not disconnect the linkage, the post above, pointing to the shift fork, may be your problem.

So I have this adapter plate Shift Linkage Kit-Basic '97-'02 | TeraFlex Suspensions so now that my tcase is sitting back up in a stock location what do I need to go back to a stock configeration. I think this plate is causing everything to bind up and not adjust properly
