Swing away TC install question.

Couple of tire carrier questions.

1 - when you remove the stock spare tire mount and brake light from the tail gate to install a swing away carrier, what do you do with the empty bolt holes where the stock carrier mounted?

2 - if you choose not to re-route a new 3rd brake light, what do you do with that wiring and hole where it comes out of the tail gate?

Do you just leave the holes open? Wouldn't that allow water to leak in?

I put bolts in all holes except where the tail light wire went.

For extra protection, I put an extremely thin layer of rtv on the bolt heads and threads, but I'm paranoid about rust ever since I took off my tire carrier.

So, what about the tail light wire hole?

I just left it open. Then I used it for my CB wires.

I left the grommet in the hole and just stuck a screw in the hole in the grommet although I don't think it'd really be an issue.

I've still got the wire for the brake light coming through the grommet, though it's just coiled up and taped to outside of the tailgate... eventually I may actually get off my butt and a third brake light installed

1. I put the bolts back into the tailgate from where the old stock tire carrier came out... you can't even see them anyway when the swingaway is closed and the tire is mounted.

2. I just unplugged it from behind the plastic cover in the tailgate, and pulled it through the hole in the tailgate. I then put clear silicone over the hole.
