suspension help...pics included

i have a couple questions as to the postion of my springs and control arms. im not very knowledgeable about this stuff yet so i rely on the shop and you guys to help me out. i had a 4" RC lift with a 1.25" BL put on my 01 tj. the passenger side spring is good but the driver side one has a bow in it.

drivers side

passenger side

is this normal? also the last time i was on the trail, my driver side lower control arm came apart. its almost as if it unscrewed but both ends were still attached and the threads were fine. so i screwed it back together but it wouldnt go on all the way so now it sits further out.

passenger side

is all this normal? thanks for your input.

ur control arms arnt set equal to each other, so ur axle is angled resulting in your coils being bent. adjust your arms so that there equal and that should fix ur problem.

Whats the length of your arms? I just installed adj. control arms and set the lowers at 16.25". Ive got about 3/4" inch of thread showing. front uppers are around 16" And my springs are not bowed.

I'm no suspension expert but I would be willing to say the axle housing is not square with the upper/lower spring rest.

I'd look into cleaning off that mud or rust too.

measure eye to eye length, not the amount of the thread showing, just in case the control arm body is truely different lengths due to manufacturing differences.

I have the same problem but only for the front drivers side. It appears the axle is shifted forward on the drivers side? Is this common for the RC 2.5" lift? I have stock control arms and not sure how this happens.

Other people must have run into this before? I didn't think I would need adjustable control arms on such a small lift.

Would an adjustable track bar fix this problem? I would assume the track bar is putting pressur on one side causing the axle to shift forward. A longer track bar would get rid of this pressure.

I called Rough country and they said this is typical and the higher you go the worse it gets. He also mentioned a long arm is the true solution and not to worry about the bow in the spring. I can't leave it like that since it bothers me and will not stop till it is fixed.

hpycmpr, there is a lot going on there. One bad thing is you have got spring spacers on to of those 4"springs, right? If so that 6" of suspension lift with short arms is binding those springs to bow like that.

I made the same mistake. My original version 4" RC came in at something more like 5.5 on top of my 1" BL. Enough lift for friggin 36's without the right guts. Tempted to put the stocker springs back in and the Tera 2" block lift.
