Superior Dana 35 C-Clip Eliminator Kit

http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx?partID=41125

I know it's fairly new, but has anyone used this kit yet?

What kind of cutting is required?

How do the 30 spline axle shafts work with the stock setup?

I was always interested in a Super 35 kit, but didn't want the rear locker and the cost to set it up, this seems to be a good, middle-ground type of kit, that I could do in the garage.

Any other info regarding the kit would be great.

Thanks

The ad copy is incorrect. The old sales and marketing guy at Superior took the ad for the Super 88 and just substituted the words D-35 for Super 88.

It should read that there is no cutting, you have to drill two new holes in the housing end flanges and they supply the correct drill bit. The drilling is easy because you use the new housing ends as a guide.

The chrom-moly axles are 27 spline stock replacements.

It exactly a middle ground DIY in the garage in a few hours, kit.

Sounds good.
Thanks for the info Blaine.

Edit: It also states that the kit works with both disks and drums. Is this incorrect as well?

Yes that is incorrect, it only works with rear drums.

Appeal to the masses eh?

Just a wild guess, but I'm getting the feeling you had a part in the development/testing of this.

Free samples, coupons, discounts?

Thanks again.

You could view it like that, but reality is I did surveys on a few boards and asked the following question- If you have a Dana 35 rear axle, do you have drums or discs?

Out of every 10 who replied and there were several hundred, only 1 per 10 had discs.

It would take a lot more development to get the kit to work with rear discs and even then I'm not too sure it could be done without some unnecessary added width.

A part, yes. Part of the team that did it.

- Stronger axle shafts
- Eliminates need for c-clips to retain axle.

If you were to break an axle shaft, with this kit, it would make it easier to get off the trail or at least to a better spot to work on the problem.

No tires falling off/axles sliding out.
No logs strapped to the side of your heep.

Nothing to see here.

It's hard to quantify, but so far, there have been no breaks on 33's which is the intended market.

If there is a breakage, I'll be the first to update everyone.

Blaine, would you recommend this kit for 35's or would that be pushing the envelope? My presumed dream setup for this and the D30 would be the c-clip elims with a super 30 or chromos. Aussie in front and true-trac in the back with 4.56.
