Stuck...Almostr Stuck...Looks Cool
I saw some thread awhile ago and the guy made a list to categorize the order of which he should purchase things for his jeep. (i've modified it for my own likings) went like this:
1. If it breaks, I Will be stuck. 2. If it breaks, I Could be stuck with some on trail repairs 3. If it breaks, It will only cause body damage. 4. Nothing to break, but it looks awesome! unfortunately, i'm pretty sure everything i've purchased so far is pretty much in the opposite order... or atleast close to it. I think this Order of purchasing is great idea and i want to follow it so i think my first bet should be to get some skids (i'm naked underneath ) what skids do you guys think i shoudl get first? (i was thinking gas tank) What products would you put in those categories???????

I'd say a its a toss up between a gas skid and a oil pan skid for first.
I have a skidrow oil pan skid...they are pretty popular. When it comes to gas tanks, a lot of people run Kilby. This will be my next skid purchase. I also run a Kilby steering box skid, because they are cheap and can't hurt to have it. Another thing is rocker guards. I run jeeperman frame mounted rock skids because i did not want to drill into my tub. These prevent a lot of body damage, but if you take a few hits to your rockers you can make it off the trail.

that's the skidrow one right?? it seems not designed very well if the only thing holding up that entire side is just one bracket...
is that not the oil pan skid or maybe i'm just missing something.. ![]()

The Skidrow like you have in your image there attaches to your frame by your lca, it attaches to an engine mount with the forwardmost strut, and it attaches to the tcase skid.
It is both an oil pan and an engine skid plate.

I'm happy with my SkidRow engine skid and Kilby gas and steering skids. Never had any problems with them.

axles and a winch would be mine!!!
I bought my wrangler 2 weeks ago and have so far in the last 156 miles broken: one rear trak lock carior ring and pinion set of spider gears a D44 axle housing and cover rear axle u-joint and a shaft as of tonight! now I have put about 30 of thoes miles on it off road and have been out 4wheeling probably more that I have driven it on the street. I also do much harder stuff thaan most. I also have used my winch (xd9000i) about 6-7 times five of thoes in the last two days and it is about the best up-grade on my jeep. oh I am only running 33's with a D44 |
