stuck in 5th gear going nowhere

97 wrangler with manual trans stuck in 5th gear. no abnormal noises or vibrations leading up to problem and clutch seems to be working fine.

Even without the clutch, you should be able to pull it out of 5th gear to neutral. Put "some stank on it" and see if it pulls out, but don't try to break the shifter in half.

If you CAN get it out of gear, see if it doesn't shift properly in everything besides 5th. Honestly man you probably should just take it to a shop unless you've torn into transmissions before, its not something you want to try as a first time fix job on a Wrangler or any vehicle for that matter.

i got it out of gear but couldnt get it into any other gear. i eventually got it back in 5th and limped it back home and there wasnt any noises or any indication that it was stuck in gear other than it being stuck in gear.
