Stripped T-case skid NUTs
is it recommended to attempt to TAP the welded nut inserts that the t-case skid plate bolts run up into in the frame? one's clearly stripped and another is likely on its way out.. aside from cutting into the frame and re-doing them all together, is this a viable option, or will it likely just spin the nut?
anyone do this before?? ![]()

It's worth a shot with a hand tap tool.The larger diameter might hold up to that.If not,use a slightly larger diameter self tapping screw/bolt after drilling it out a bit.

I used a 9/16" tap and did one of mine. Didn't have to drill anything. The hardest part was finding a 9/16" tap and bolt locally. Every hardware store that I went to only carried up to 1/2" bolts. If I have to fix another one, I'll replace the nutserts. Here's a good how to:
