strange "wrangler" decal placement?
![]() Shouldn't the "wrangler" decal be under the jeep decal? This is a jeep i was thinking of buying. It has 108,000 miles and looks like it just rolled off the line. So I'm thinking that maybe it was repaired or repainted and someone slipped up on decal placement. It's an '03 sport. what do you experts think?

I think you're right. You better carfax this one. I believe it should look like this:
SPORT JEEP WRANGLER

look at all the fenders, doors, hood, etc. should be an adhesive backed "vin" sticker on all body panels. if not, you got replaced body panels/parts.
on my `02, the sport is under the wrangler and centered

The wrangler decal is in the right position, but the SPORT decal looks off.

I have not seen that decal placement before. You should always obtain a carfax report when buying any used vehicle, even if you know the seller and trust what they tell you about it.

Definitely going to have to carfax this one. it seems to clean for the miles even the flares and bumper ends aren't faded one bit. check it out http://www.grandprixautogroup.com/used-inventory/vehicle-details.htm?vehicleId=0f01cb204046381e0151a712a5f3 ae54&useHistory=true

heres the correct decal placement:
There 2 possibilities: 1. It was in an accident and somebody didn't put the stickers in the right place. 2. The factory didn't put the stickers in the right place. My money is on #1, however the dealership where I bought my Jeep had a 2001 XJ come in off the assembly line that was a Classic on one side and a Limited on the other side. Side moldings and everything looked perfect on each side...they had to decode the VIN and double check the specs to see what it was supposed to be.

Well just carfaxed it, nothing ever reported. Actually well maintained through the dealer up until 66,620 miles. Unfortunately after that i have no reported records of maintenance other than passing inspection. What do you guys think? Is it too much to pay for such a high mileage jeep?

No vehicle yet but I will check when I go see it. Great way to make sure it wasn't in an unreported accident. Thanks for the advice.

Someone could have just thought it looked cool with Sport written there and bought some decals too.
