Strange water leak coming from under the dash on the driver's side

Not sure where it's coming from so looking for ideas. I have an 04 TJ. I'll probably end up just taking it to the dealership but if it is something simple I will fix it myself to avoid the long wait. I was guessing from around the windshield wipers on the outside. There seems to be a hole on each one, but it is supposed to be there cause I looked at a few and they all have the same space. I was also thinking of a vent plate that is located right up around the hood / windshield on the outside, but I am not too sure what that goes to. The water only leaks when it is stationary and it rains. No water gets in while driving so that sorta rules out anything on the firewall I am guessing. Any suggestions?

Our '04 does the same thing, but only when there are heavy rains. I've come to just expect it from Jeeps since our XJ does the same thing, but it does bug me considering it's brand new. Ours is coming from right above the gas pedal. It just likes to pee all over my foot.
Good luck with the dealer. Let us know if you get any tips or fixes.

We have had some 04's come into our dealer having the same problem. The 2 that had the problem you are complaining about they both had water coming in from the back of the hood. Right where the rubber molding is to make a "tight" seal between the hood and the cowl. Underneith that rubber seal is a pinch weld, we take RTV and seal them up that way.

Go sit in your jeep while somone sprays a hose at that pinchweld (without the rubber on it, and the hood up) have them spray the whole pinch weld all that way across the Jeep. if you get a leak inside then you need to put some sort of RTV or silicone along that whole pinch weld.

Thanks! I'll take a look at it too.
One question though...is the pinch weld not welded across or is it just a spot weld along the seam?

Their is a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) that came out some years ago 97 or 98 that talks about the water leak problem. You would have thought they would have fixed it by now. The dealer may be able to provide you with it. Or if its under warrenty just have them do it. As stated, they just add silicone to the leaky area, sort of like a band-aid to me.

I cant remember...but I think it is just pinch welded along the whole seam.
