My TJ has developed a new and even more annoying sound than its other 5 squeeks, rattles, and creaks.
It sounds like a thin piece of tin or other flimsy metal vibrating or "ringing" at various times such as at a certain RPM (vib from the engine) or when I hit a bump just right.
It is coming form the passenger floorboard area or possibly lower dash.
I suspected it was the speaker but I made sure those screws were tight.
I suspected it was the jack parts next to the seat, but thats not it.
...and no, its not stuff in my glove box rattling around!
Hmmm didnt think about the exhaust. I just had a glasspack installed and figured if there was a problem, the guy would have pointed it out to make an extra buck.
It sounds like it is inside the cab and I think anything under the floor would be muffled a little...this is a very distinct inside sound.
turn the radio up thats what I do lol. I have the same thing kind of sounds its in the dash or something, like a pin swinging or something. Just another one of the many sounds of jeep.
My freightliner had a bolt in sleeper area that backed off just enough for the washer to move and it sounded like one of those bells people put on a cat.
That will drive you crazy listening to that for 10 hours at a time.
I figured it out. It was one of the springs under the seat. At some point it starts vibrating and "ringing".
I just took it off. I hope it wasn't important. There is one opposite of it across the seat, so I hope that is enough. If not, I will wrap it in electrical tape!
