Strange noise
I just got back from wheeling and now my jeep makes a strange knocking sound when i start from a complete stop. The knocking sound happens in 1st and 2nd gear then stops. I cant tell if the knocking is from the transmission or the differential but it doesnt have anything to do with the engine or gas octane. help

We will need a little more information than that to help you im afraid. The thing with the gas octane just made the JF random comment of the day though.

check for branches stuck against your drive train, thats what my noise was from when i got off the trails and back on the road again, it was a real loud knocking in first and second gear!

maybe you chipped a thooth in the trans, drop the lube and look for peices, if there are peices at least you will get them out so they won't cause any more damage...it's worth a look if the noise is comming out of the trans...
