Storage in footwells possible???

Now that spring/summer is getting closer, I'd like to get all the crap - tools, jumper cables, air hose etc - out from behind the back seat. I was eyeing the available space behind the front seats on the floor. Has anyone ever tried to make a removable, lockable cover for the foot wells to possibly store tools etc in them? With the rear seat removed, you would have essentially just a flat floor. Once the weather is warm enough to remove the top, I'm going to check out the possibility. I rarely have anyone in the rear seat anyway. In fact, it is usually out of the jeep in the summer. Thanks for any ideas and opinions, pro or con, of why this might or might not work. Later, Joe

I've not seen a setup like that but I'd be interested as well. Right now I have my towstrap, small toolset, snowbrush, folding shovel, and cd binder there. I never have my back seat in.

I was actually just thinking of this same idea!! My only problem was to find a material strong enough that someone could still put their feet on if I had rear-seat passengers, and still able to cut/shape to fit in there. Right now I just threw some stuff under the carpet behind the driver's seat, carpet on top and then the rubber rear floor mat. Doesn't look too bad, but I would prefer some type of cover like you're describing. Let us know if you figure out anything!

I think that's a great idea. I usually have a passenger or two in the back so I'd need something durable enough to rest their feet on.
