Stock suspension with tubular fenders
I have had my jeep for few months now and living in southern california where everything is too expensive my ability to "play" with my jeep has been very limited. I will be moving back to Texas soon where my family owns a metal fab company so I will unleash a wealth of ideas that have accumulated thanks to jeepforum.com. One of those ideas is to fab up some tubular fenders. My question is this: What size tires could one expect to fit with backspaced wheels, stock suspension, and high clearance tubular fenders? I am thinking possibly 33x10.50, am I way out of line here? Do you think it would be worth doing?
![]() P.S. vehicle is 2000 model Sport.

If you're going to flat fender it, do you plan on cutting the rear also? JP mag did a No lift TJ with 35s, but the did use a fiberglass hood. I think they would fit, but if your going to flat fender it, you might as well run a 2" BB to give you a little more height and to reduce the rubbage.

I would redo the rear fenders as well. I am getting my inspiration from American Expedition Vehicles if you are familiar with them. I think they fit like 37" tires with minimal suspension lift if I remember correctly. I am just curious as to how big I could go without having to worry about rubbing period.

To get that kind of clearance, you did also notice that AEV cut down the hood and moved the fenders up, and really cut out the rears too.
Another reason to go with at least *some* lift - more suspension travel. You don't to be Krawler to benefit from more travel than stock. |
