stock radio illuminates but doesn't turn on
Let me first say that this is my first jeep I've owned.
I installed a CB today and tied the power and ground into the the stock radio wiring harness and everything seemed to work just fine the CB came on and functioned correctly, however when I put the stock radio back in and got everything back together the radio wouldn't turn on. The CB works and I've check the fuse behind the glove compartment for the radio and it's good. If I turn on the lights the buttons all light up but I get nothing on the LCD screen and no sound, I also can't eject a CD that's in the Radio. I'm hoping someone can give me some idea's to check. Thanks

Check your owner's manual for a radio "security code" number. My '03 Durango & '06 MegaCab both had to be reset (I did it myself following the owner's manual instructions) after being disconnected from the power source.
Maybe yours is the same type of system? Max

Did you tap into the power via vampire or some other means? Maybe you tapped into the wrong wire and it's shorting the radio. Make sure you are using the +12 volts switched and not constant.
Just throwing out suggestions. |

I'm using the +12 volt switched and not the constant. The previous owner of the jeep must have had an aftermarket amp or something in the jeep because all of the speaker wires have been spliced into. There was a pigtail coming off of the +12v switched line that I used to connect to. I haven't had a single problem with the radio until this and have had it disconnected previously.

Found the problem, I didn't realize there was two radio fuses, one behind the glove compartment and one under the hood. Opened the fuse block under the hood to check on a different fuse and noticed a radio fuse there and it was blown replaced the fuse and everything works great. The fuse under the hood seems to feed the constant power since I had power to the switched +12.
