stock alternator amps?

I have a 06 sport and the replacment alternators say 117 amps. I thought the stocker was 90 amps.

There are several threads on here that will tell you exactly what you have. I just did the research last week and changed mine out to an 01-06 Durango which is a direct fit and 160 amps.

Stripped down Wrangler SEs and maybe SOME Sports came with the base level 84 amp alternator but most of the Wrangler TJs came with the higher output 117 amp alternator. It's the rare TJ that has the 84 amp alternator. Especially when there are packages of options on the Jeep, and especially when there is a/c which pretty much guarantees the 117 amp alternator.

Just as a note, my 2000 Sport with OEM A/C, fog lights and a soft top didn't come with the 117 amp alternator. I put a 136 amp one in from a 2000 JGC...

Don't be so sure of that. My '97 TJ's window sticker said in big letters it had the 84 amp alternator which totally bummed me out. Then quite a while later, I discovered they had buried the fact it actually had a 117 amp alternator in a separate optional package identifier. If it had a/c, I would bet it came with the 117 amp alternator which was a triggering upgrade for the 117 amp alternator.

Welp, 5+ years ago I was adding some accessories and wanted more amps from my setup. I found that I didn't have the 117 amp alternator and DC wanted $300+ for one.
E-bay and $85 gave me the 136 amp one...IIRC

Will this bolt onto a 99 4.0L without any modification?

The skinny pedal on the right is my friend. the gas gauge is not.

No, for the 99 you can get the 130 amp out of a 98 Dakota.

Tell me more if you don't mind. The research I did said the pulley doesn't match up and you have to modify the positive stud or something.
If this is as simple as picking up a Durango alternator and bolting it in, I'll do that today.

My build sheet says 117amps but my TJ had a 90amps installed I guess previous owner changed. I just installed a 160amps this weekend. I did use the positive plastic stud frame and pulley from the old alternator. Really easy to swap.

My Jeep isn't getting older, it's getting newer part by part

Durango with a 4.7, 160 amp alternator. Should be a direct fit, it will have an extra arm on it, I did not have to mess with it, and it bolted right up to my 05.
